Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Ann Arbor Healthcare System, 2215 Fuller Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48105, anticipates soliciting bids and consequently awarding a contract for the construction project known as "Replace Vacuum Pumps." The solicitation will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 14 (SEALED BIDDING) and Part 36 (CONSTRUCTION) and will be evaluated in accordance with the procedures therein. The solicitation will be advertised as a Total Set-Aside for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, supplies, travel, etc. to perform all work under this project which consists of: The contractor shall replace the existing duplex 10 hp vacuum pump system located in the pipe basement of building 1-west with a new duplex 10 hp medical vacuum pump system. Included in the project are all connections, electrical support, removal and disposal of existing, start up, testing, training, and certification to result in a complete and workable system. Remove existing duplex system. Furnish and install new 10 HP duplex medical vacuum pump systems. Install new power wiring from existing electrical panel to new vacuum pump system. Contractor may reuse existing conduit system if it is available and shall provide new extensions to the conduit system as required. Contractor shall provide new disconnect at the new vacuum pump location. Provide copper connections to the hospital distribution piping for intake and output. Braze connections along with nitrogen purge during brazing operations. Test and certify system upon completion. Provide testing and training of engineering personnel upon startup. Provide maintenance and operation manuals. Provide system certification for medical operation. The contractor shall install the new system and have it tested and ready for operation prior to disconnecting the existing system. To accomplish this, the contractor shall interrupt the existing main intake and exhaust lines and install tees along with two valves (certified for use on medical vacuum systems) on each line. This shall be accomplished on off hours and along with coordination with medical center. Once this is completed the contractor will complete installation of the new system adjacent to the existing system. After the new system is certified and ready for operation, the contractor will be allowed to remove the existing system. The period of performance is 120 calendar days for the entire project. Magnitude of construction is expected to be between $25,000 and $100,000. NAICS Code for this acquisition is 238220 Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors. The solicitation documents including specifications and drawings will be issued on or about 2-11-2010 and will be posted on Federal Business Opportunities. This date is subject to change. Hard copy documents including drawings will not be available - all documents for bidding purposes will be posted at this website for download. Site visit information will be provided upon issuance of solicitation. Only one site visit is planned. Bids will be due 30 days after issuance of solicitation. This notice is for informational purposes only and is not a request for submission of offers. The Government is not obligated to issue a solicitation as a result of this notice. No other information is available until issuance of the solicitation. No bidder list is maintained.
