- Replace Interior chill water pipe lagging. For mold abatement 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. Remove existing insulation and renew to thickness specified below in table 1. 2. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Contractor to inspect the system in the presence of the CG inspector, verify the location and lengths of all piping to be re-insulated, and note the current condition of the insulation. 3.2 Contractor shall cut away and remove all insulation as identified by the CG inspector, not to exceed the linear footage in each compartment listed in Table 1. NOTE: One Week prior to start of work, contractor must provide CG inspector the name and technical data of the insulation product to ensure it is appropriate. 3.2 Interferences include but are not limited to: overhead piping, overheads, ventilation ducting, berthing area bedding, crew lockers, valves, sprinkler heads, and bulkheads. All of the Chill water piping to be re-insulated is located in the overhead area of the compartment. 3.3 New insulation installation. The Contractor shall furnish, cut, fit, and install new closed cell, halogen-free, foam insulation material, conforming to EB Spec 4013, to a thickness as specified in Table 1 (Insulation Particulars) below, over the exposed pipe surfaces, including associated fittings, as applicable; secure piping material with adhesive material conforming to MIL-A-24179, Type II, Class 1. Coat the newly installed insulation in accordance with COMDTINST M10360.3, using the coating system specified for %u201CInsulation Surfaces, Fiberglass Sheet/ Closed Cell PVC Foam%u201D in Table IB (Interior Coating Systems). Select color to match existing adjacent surfaces. This chill water piping normally carries water of a temperature 40 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, k value of the insulation must be.250 Btu-ft/(hr-ft2-oF) or less within this temperature range. Product must be mold resistant. TABLE 1. QUALITY ASSURANCE 4.1 Contractor shall, in the presence of the CG inspector, optest the chill water system for 24 hours and check for condensation or failure of the insulation. 4.2 Contractor shall dispose of all materials in accordance with Federal, state and local laws.
