- Description
- Request for Information (RFI) -NAS-0001-2010(FBO) Magnetic Card Reader, Loader and Magnetic Cards The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) solely for market research purposes and does not constitute as a solicitation. Responses to this notice are not quotes and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Respondents are solely responsible for all expenses associated to this RFI. Responses to this RFI will not be returned. The BOP is releasing this RFI to ascertain if vendors are interested if a solicitation was released, for a Magnetic card reader with receipt printer, a cash loader, and cards with the magnetic strip. Specifically, the BOP is contemplating a blanket purchase agreement for a five year performance period, for BOP institutions throughout the United States, including Puerto Rico and Hawaii. The following commodities will be needed for this requirement: 1. Automated Cash Card Loader: Terminal used to encode credits to the debit card meal ticket, shall be located in an area easily accessible by employees. It is used to encode credits on the debit card and accepts currency in denominations of $1, $5, $10, and $20. When the employee inserts the debit card and the currency into the terminal, the Automated Cash Card Loader encodes the debit card with the amount of currency. As an option the unit may include a card dispenser. The unit can be table-top or wall mounted and shall have reporting capabilities. The Automated Cash Card Loader must be ideal for use in busy locations where staff time is at a premium and self service is a requirement. This system shall be configured to read the existing Magnetic Stripe Cards currently in use by the BOP. Terminals will be installed in BOP locations throughout the U.S., including Puerto Rico and Hawaii. 2. Card Reader and Receipt Printer: The terminal is utilized to deduct amounts from the debit card meal ticket. This terminal and printer shall be located in the staff dining area or in a protected area easily accessible to staff. Each time the debit card is inserted into the Card Reader and Receipt Printer terminal, it will deduct the cost of a meal from the card and provide the cardholder with a receipt. 3. Magnetic Stripe Cards: These cards should have a magnetic strip and be compatible with the Automated Cash Card Loader, the Card Reader, and Receipt Printer. Vendors responding to this RFI shall provide the following information: 1. Provide a description of the items requested. 2. An estimated cost per each item. 3. Name and number of a company representative in case we have additional questions. 4. Business Size 5. Dun & Bradstreet Number Responses and any inquiries regarding this RFI shall be emailed, in PDF format, no later than Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 12:00 pm EST, to the attention of Pat Donahue-Ormandy, Senior Contract Specialist, at pdonahueormandy@bop.gov or Linda Townsel, Contract Specialist, at ltownsel@bop.gov.
