Description
NOTICE: THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. The information provided in response to this notice will assist the Government in determining the extent of business capable of performing the type of work described herein. The intent of the announcement is to identify all sources that are qualified of furnishing The National Marine Fisheries Service Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, Protected Species Division Honolulu, Hawaii with the following: Background: The PIFSC Hawaiian Seal Research Program and Cetacean Research Program (MMRP) are two of the preeminent groups working on marine mammal research and conservation issues in the tropical north Pacific. As a Federal agency it is important the research being conducted be shared with the general public. The most broadly effective tool to accomplish this task is the Internet. The PIFSC maintains a website with the purpose of disseminating information on the research activities at the Center. This position is intended to help pull together the critical information and media that will be included on the website. 1) The contractor will provide analysis of monk seal tissue samples to determine stable isotope ratios of carbon and nitrogen. The work will be performed for the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, Protected Species Division. 2) The contractor shall: Receive raw unprocessed samples of skin and/or fur from the PIFSC Hawaiian monk seal program The Contractor shall carry out all processes necessary to prepare biological samples for stable isotope analysis. This will include dehydrating (freeze-drying or other methods), lipid extraction, washing, grinding/homogenizing, weighing and/or encapsulating as necessary. Will analyze biological samples for ratios of C and N. Will provide an electronic copy of all data to the PIFSC Period of performance is from date of award through June 30, 2011. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) is 541380 with a size standard of $12.0 million. All contractors doing business with the Government are now required to be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR). In addition, completion of the online representation and certifications application (ORCA) is required. NOTE: THIS SYNOPSIS IS NOT CONSIDERED A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL BUT A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. No solicitation document is available. No contract will be awarded on the basis of responses received to this notice. All interested parties must respond to this announcement by May 24, 2010. Documentation to support the contractor's capability to perform these services must be submitted in writing and include the point of contact and phone number, and a description of services performed under previous contracts for the same services, DUNS Number, CCR, Cage Number, business type and size, and a brief narrative regarding its capability to provide the services as described above. Any response that does not include this information will not be considered. The Government will review each response to determine if the contractor has the experience, knowledge, and capability to perform the services as specified above.
