1. Classification Code:3953-Marking Devices 2. NAICS Code: 541360-Geophysical Surveying and Mapping Services 3. Solicitation Number: Q4190100064 4. Notice Type: Combined Synopsis/Solicitation 5. Synopsis: This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.603 Streamlined solicitation for commercial items as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. 6. This is a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2005-40. 7. This action is being set aside for small business participation. 8. BID SCHEDULE: Installation of 15 survey monuments are needed along Assateague Island. The monuments will be used primarily for geomorphologic surveys using a survey-grade GPS receiver. 11 monuments will be set to 16 feet deep while 4 of the monuments will be driven to refusal or a maximum depth of 90 feet. 1 Job Total Price $____________ Specifications: Installation of 15 survey monuments at Assateague Island National Seashore15 survey monuments are needed along Assateague Island. The monuments will be used primarily for geomorphologic surveys using a survey-grade GPS receiver. 11 monuments will be set to 16 feet deep while 4 of the monuments will be driven to refusal or a maximum depth of 90 feet. The work should take place between September 1, 2010 and September 30, 2010 in order to minimize conflict with threatened or endangered species. Assateague Island is a barrier island consisting of sandy soils which require a four wheel drive vehicle for travel. Sites where monuments will be constructed will be identified ahead of time. The contractor will be provided with coordinates, directions to, and signs in the field sufficiently displaying the locations. Steps to follow for setting monuments are found in the attached document (Berntsen_monument_directions.pdf). Monuments should adhere to Geometric Geodetic Accuracy Standards as defined by the Federal Geodetic Control Committee in the attached document (NGS_GPS_monument_standards.pdf). Following the monument construction directions (Berntsen_monument_directions.pdf) will ensure that these standards are met. The following materials for creating the monuments will be provided by Assateague Island National Seashore: "9/16" dia. x 4' Stainless Steel Rod w/Thread - 136 pieces"9/16" Stainless Steel Drive Point - 15 pieces"3' Frost Upheaval Sleeve for 9/16" Rod - 15 pieces"3 " Bronze Domed Cap for 9/16" Rod with Magnet - 15 pieces"NO-TOX Grease for stainless steel survey monument frost upheaval sleeve (fits std. grease gun) - 15 pieces"9/16" Stainless Steel Rod Power Driver Adapter - 1 piece"Access Cover for (sch 40) 6" PVC Pipe (Recessed Hinge) - 4 piecesofor four monuments driven to refusal"Cement for making concrete - 15 pieces"6" dia. X 4 ft. PVC pipe - 15 pieces"Loc-Tite for locking rods - 1 piece The contractor will provide the following:"Gas-powered driver with a minimum impact force of 25 foot pounds per blow and fuel (ex: Wacker Model BHB 25; Pionjar Model 120)"Power auger or post-hole diggers as described in directions"Standard grease gun"Apparatus for mixing concrete" Four wheel drive vehicle to access sites"Labor completing monuments according to directions including the following:oDigging holes as described in monument construction directionsoDriving 11 monuments to 16 feet depth and 4 monuments to refusal as described in monument construction directionsoGrease and place frost upheaval sleeve according to monument construction directionsoPlace 6inch PVC pipe around sleeve in hole.
