Synopsis: This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.603 Streamlined solicitation for commercial items as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. 6. This is a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2005-40. 7. This action is being set aside for small business participation. 8. BID SCHEDULE: The work of this contract consists of providing moving services for furniture and other collections belonging to the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites in Hyde Park, New York. Key factors for this project in addition to cost are flexibility in scheduling, and willingness to take direction in the handling and moving of museum collections.Total Price $_____________ PER MOVEMENT, The move dates have not yet been scheduled, but will be arranged between the Contractor and the COR. The move shall be carried out intermittently over the course of 9 months. Key factors for this project in addition to cost are flexibility in scheduling, and willingness to take direction in the handling and moving of museum collections.Description of SiteThe Home of Franklin D Roosevelt NHS was the lifelong home of the 32nd President of the United States. Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) was born and grew up in the house and returned many times during his presidency. The Eleanor Roosevelt NHS comprises Mrs. Roosevelt's retreat on the Hyde Park estate that became her permanent home from 1945 until her death in 1962. The Vanderbilt Mansion NHS includes the house designed by McKim, Mead, & White for Frederick and Louise Vanderbilt on a previously designed landscape overlooking the Hudson River in Hyde Park. The sites are all managed together by the National Park Service (NPS) as the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites. Scope of WorkThe NPS is seeking quotes for moving services contractors that can offer flexibility in scheduling. The work involves moving museum furnishings and other collections belonging to the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt sites. The moves will be among five park locations within Hyde Park, most of which include multiple levels accessible only by stairs, and a location up to one-hour, one-way, from Hyde Park (to be identified through a separate contract now in process). The collections to be moved will include, but not necessarily be limited to, furniture, including large and fragile pieces, boxed textiles and other materials, rolled rugs and carpets, cabinets and files, and may include outdoor stone furniture and sculpture. All collections will be moved under the direction of the park's Collection Manager, who will approve all moving techniques, equipment, and protective materials. Provided the contractor exercises care and adheres to all direction and guidance provided, no specialized art handling background is considered necessary.The Contractor will generally be asked to provide between 2 and 4 movers per day. All moving services will occur during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00p.m. The moving dates have not yet been established, but a workable schedule will be set up between the contractor and the COR.
