Description
The Food and Drug Administration is conducting a market survey to assess the availability and technical capability of small business firms as defined by NAICS code 334513. A motion capture system is needed that can determine the 3D location and orientation of bone and joint structures to investigate joint mechanics studies of orthopaedic medical devices. This notification is for market research purposes and does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that procurement will be accomplished. This system must be able to provide precise, real-time spatial measurements in order to calculate local deformations and strains with a spine or joint. All capability statements furnished should meet these technical requirements:  RMS Accuracy of 0.4mm or better (x and y direction accuracy)  Spatial resolution of 0.01mm or better  Frame rate of 4600 Hz or better  A minimum of 6 orthopaedic spine pins that have 6 degrees of freedom 93 translational and 3 rotational)  A minimum of 10 infrared individual markers that can be placed onto spinal tissue  Active marker technology is required so that marker identities are not mixed up and data is delivered at high speed and quality  Must be able to image an area of at least 0.5m x 0.9m at 1.5m distance  Software program that can collect, manage, and display kinematic data in real time  Software package that can interface with existing MTS mechanical testing system to provide real-time feedback of motion  A minimum of 1 year warranty on spine testing system is required.  Responsive technical support is required to ensure accurate analyses are performed.  Special site requirements will not be available for housing the spine testing system as the location planned for this system will be in a laboratory subjected to normal temperature
