Description
Special Notice NAICS code: 813920 Description: The US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to issue a sole source purchase order to the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC), 1275 K Street Northwest, Suite 1000, Washington, DC, 20005-4160. This solicitation provides for services and materials for the Military Health Services (MHS) to share in the industry wide charge to reduce the risks of infections. APIC memberships will connect the MHS to other healthcare professionals who are working to improve patient safety while reducing the risks of infections. The objective of this procurement is to obtain 70 memberships for Hospitals, Ambulatory Clinics, Dental Clinics, and Regional Commands and Headquarters elements within an existing national patient safety organizations program to facilitate collaborative efforts in improving patient safety between leading corporations, federal agencies, renowned medical facilities, and experts within the healthcare industry. This notification is being issued in accordance with FAR 6.302; Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) provides a service that is one of a kind as it relates to the medical community. APIC provides access to tools and resources that have historically been used to enhance and reduce the risks of infections. After exhaustive research via the internet beginning on 17 March 2010 and a review of infection control policies and standards it quickly became evident that APIC is the forum many of the medical associations use as the premier source when discussing infection control policy, procedures and best practices. Through APIC the MHS will have access to a host of programs and services designed to help advance MHS practices and stay abreast of new developments. APIC is the only entity located that provides members with an expansive and diverse network of experienced professionals who share a common bond through their commitment to reducing the risk of infection and improving patient outcomes. APICs growing membership includes infection prevention and control professionals, epidemiologists, quality and patient safety experts, clinicians, administrators, public health officials, and other healthcare professionals from across the continuum of healthcare. With its expansive and diversified membership, APIC provides the MHS access to information and data that can be used to support bridging the gap between the MHS and civilian medical counterparts. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. This notice is not considered a Request for Quotation or Proposal. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. If no affirmative written response is received within fifteen (15) days after publication of this response, the purchase will be awarded without further notice.
