- Description
- The purpose of this amendment is to provide responses posed by potential offerors. The following questions were posed, along with their responses. Question 1: How tall of a rack is OK? What type of power will I be able to plug the battery backup into? Response 1: 1. The New 19 inch rack will go next to an existing rack that is 76 inches tall from floor to ceiling. It should be no taller than this because of ventilation considerations as the two cabinets will stand in an alcove together and need clearance at the top for air flow. Also, for cosmetic reasons we would like the rack to be black to match the existing one if that is possible. 2. The electric circuits will be 120 volts, so the battery backups must use that. The vendor should tell us how many circuits are needed to power the configuration they bid. Low power ecco drives for disks may be important to reduce the number of battery backup units needed for the cluster. Question 2: What type of 10 Gb Ethernet cable is required to connect to the 10 Gb Ethernet switches already in place? Response 2: There is no 10Gb switching infrastructure in place. The vendor is required to provide both 1 Gb ethernet connectivity within the cluster (including switch) and to connect to our infrastructure. Separate 10 Gb or faster connectivity (including switch) must be provided within the cluster only. We will use the 1 Gb Ethernet for external connections. The vendor is therefore at liberty to select the cabling and switches they deem best for the high speed network within the cluster. The low speed networking should be Cat-5e for normal 1 gigabit Ethernet networking for connectivity to our existing infrastructure.
