Description
SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS (Not a Notice of Solicitation) The United States Air Force, 88th Air Base Wing, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio is seeking potential sources to provide a laser scanning confocal microscope. Firms responding should specify their products which meet the technical specifications provided below and provide detailed product information to show clear technical compliance. Additionally, sales history including recent commercial companies sold to should be included to determine commerciality. The requirement specifications are as follows: The instrument supplied should be a laser scanning confocal microscope with maximum ability to filter out noise from samples being imaged. It should include: • at minimum 3 laser lines (405, 488, and 555 nm) • halogen and fluorescent light sources • 2 PMT detectors • a main beam splitter • a variable beam splitter • long pass filters (505, 560, and 585 nm) • at least 5 objectives including: o 10X and 50X air objectives o 20X and 40X water immersion objectives with working distances of at least 2.5 mm, the 40X having a numerical aperture of 1.0 and a working distance of 2.5 mm o 63X oil immersion objective with numerical aperture of 1.4 and a working distance of 0.19 • a motorized Z drive with 25 nm reproducibility that can be fitted with a piezo device for reproducibility down to 1 nm • a touch screen display to control the microscope • motorized 7-objective turret • a stage that automatically lowers when the magnification is changed and returns to the original position once the new objective is in place • true optical zoom, with up to 1500X magnification with no loss in optical resolution • bright field, DIC, and fluorescence optics • user-intuitive software, including ability to do 3D reconstruction and void analysis • PC and monitor • vibration table The Air Force anticipates eventually conducting a competitive acquisition for this award. All interested firms shall submit information demonstrating their capabilities to quickly produce the system within a short/urgent time-frame. Firms responding should indicate whether they are, or are not, a small business, a socially and economically disadvantaged business, or a woman owned business. The general definition of a small business is one that is independently owned and operated, is not dominant in the field of operation in which it is proposing on Air Force contracts and with its affiliates; and the number of employees does not exceed 500. NAICS Code to be used for this acquisition is 334516. The Air Force reserves the right to consider a small business set-aside based upon responses hereto for any subsequent acquisition. Respondents are further requested to indicate their status as a Foreign-owned/Foreign-controlled firm and any contemplated use of foreign national employees on this effort. Any information submitted by respondents to this sources sought synopsis is voluntary. The Air Force does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this notice or to otherwise pay for the information solicited. Respondents should not construe this synopsis as a commitment by the Air Force for any purpose.
