- Description
- The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) will be soliciting proposals for the Genetics in Primary Care Training Institute for Primary Health Care Providers project which purpose is the following: 1)Develop a matching process in order to pair primary care providers with experts in genetics in order to develop a one-year project for their clinical practice that is measurable 2) Pilot the education and training materials for quality improvement developed under #1; and 3) Develop an evaluation design of the GPCTI and education materials developed for the project. The content of the education and training materials shall:  Reflect the needs of primary health care providers  Be evidenced-based in content Be reflective of comparative effectiveness  Be in adult learner, just-in-time case-based in format  Be organized by mode of inheritance,  Be organized for electronic presentations  Be adapted for distance learning  Reflect sound educational criteria and educational approach  Be user friendly and accessible  Be interactive in format The overall goal of a GPCTI is to get results and to close the gap in genetics knowledge and the gap between the best care and usual practice for a specific topic that is developed for clinical application. It is a model that focuses on adoption of best practices in diverse service settings and emphasizes adult learning principles, interactive training methods, and skill-focused learning. The GPCTI will use concepts from learning collaboratives. A Learning Collaborative is defined as: • A learning process that brings together teams from multiple sites working on improving a process, practice, or system and learning from their collective experiences and challenges. • A model that requires focused work by each team to adapt effective practices to their settings over the course of a 9-12 month learning process. • An ongoing learning process that includes the following components: 1. Approximately three in-person training sessions over the course of 9-12 months, 2. Follow-up consultation activities (through phone and internet), feedback loops, and resources to support sustained learning, and, 3. Opportunities to practice new skills and share progress through the Collaborative. • A model that uses methods for accelerating improvement in settings and capitalizes on shared learning and collaboration. The Government anticipates awarding a Cost Type contract for a base year and three (3) one-year option periods. This is a new requirement. Award of a contract resulting from this solicitation is restricted to organizations under NAICS code 611439. The solicitation will be issued on or about May 14, 2010. It will be available at this website at www.fbo.gov under HHS, Health Resources and Services Administration and posted dates. It is the offerors responsiblity to monitor the site for amendments to the solicitation. The agency will consider proposals from all responsible sources.
