- Compensation & Pension Program Benefit ExaminationsVA Northwest Health Network Synopsis Under the authority of 38 USC 1703(a)(8), the U.S. Veterans Administration Northwest Health Network (VISN 20) is seeking contractor assistance for the provision of contract medical disability examinations. The contractor will be required to perform disability examinations to support claims processing for veterans who have filed a claim for disability compensation or pension benefits. The contractor shall provide the full range of medical disability examinations for the following areas; musculoskeletal; organs of sense; infectious, immune, and nutritional deficiencies; respiratory; cardiovascular; digestive; genitourinary; gynecological and breast; hemic and lymphatic; skin; endocrine; neurologic (including neuropsychological exams for traumatic brain injury); and mental disorders, including post traumatic stress disorder ("PTSD"). Based on specific VA requests, special purpose examinations shall be provided including: cold injury protocol, and aid and attendance or housebound status examinations. Initial places of performance will be Portland, Oregon, Roseburg, Oregon and Anchorage, Alaska. The following VISN 20 sites may also require vendor assistance in conducting disability examinations: Spokane, Washington; Walla Walla, Washington; Boise, Idaho and White City, Oregon. Examiners performing under this contract shall be board certified or eligible, having successfully completed a residency program in one of the following medical specialties: General Medicine OrthopedicsOncology Mental HealthNeurologyENT OphthalmologyAudiologyGU Or, other specialties as requirements they may occur Physicians performing under this contract shall provide verifiable evidence of clinical experience and competence. It is expected that approximately 3,500 examinations in various specialties will be scheduled within the next year. Compensation will be provided on a per-examination basis. The anticipated start date of this contract is June 1, 2010. The contract will be for an initial period of one year, ending May 31, 2011. Multiple extension options are provided through May, 2015. This solicitation will result in a Firm-Fixed Price, non-personal services healthcare contract. Multiple awards may be made.
