Description
The Wilmington VA Medical Center, Wilmington Delaware requires temporary lodging for Veterans and their attendants/caregivers while the Veteran is receiving care by the VA. The Veteran may be receiving care at the Wilmington VA Medical Center and or the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. It is possible that Veterans traveling to Philadelphia several times a week may be housed at a local Philadelphia hotel. This will allow for those Veterans that may be weakened and exhausted by their treatment to remain close to the Philadelphia VA Medical Center and not have to go back and forth between Wilmington and Philadelphia. The Veteran(s)will not require medical care and will be staying in an unsupervised setting. The Veteran(s) and their attendant/caregiver may occupy one room. the VA will only provide lodging for the Veteran. Should the Veteran be hospitalized the attendant/caregiver, family member will not be authorized to stay in the room. The hotel is required to provide an evening meal to the Veteran. A hotel in Wilmington will provide shuttle service to and from the Wilmington VA Medical Center. A Philadelphia hotel will provide shuttle service to and from the Philadelphia hotel. The contractor will ensure that Veterans, family members and/or caregivers, are provided an orientation to the lodging facility, including fire and safety information and whom to call in an emergency. For veterans lodged in the community, community response procedures need to be followed, such as calling 911. Adequate privacy in the temporary lodging facility for men and women. a continental breakfast will be provided by the hotel to the veteran.
