1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This work item describes the requirements for the Contractor to clean the designated shipboard ventilation systems. 2. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General. 3.1.1 Condition Found Report. The Contractor shall submit a Condition Found Report (CFR) for both exhaust and recirculation ventilation systems only in accordance with MLCA Std Spec 5100. 3.1.2 Interferences. The Contractor shall be aware that interferences may include, but are not limited to the following: •Ducting screens. •Ducting insulation. •Ceiling tiles and supports. •Overhead sheathing. •Ducting screens. 3.2 Operational test - initial. Prior to commencement of work, the Contractor shall witness an operational pre-test (by Coast Guard personnel) of all items or shipboard devices to be disturbed, used, repaired, or altered, to demonstrate existing operational condition. Submit a CFR. 3.3 Cleaning requirements. The Contractor shall clean the following ventilation systems in accordance with MLCA Std Spec 5100 as well as referencing the drawings listed in Section 2 herein as guidance. In addition to the requirements specified in MLCA Std Spec 5100, the Contractor shall accomplish the following: 3.4.1 Notification. Give written notification to the COR, twenty-four hours before starting ventilation cleaning work. 3.4.2 Additional protective covering. Provide additional protective covering for all food preparation and serving surfaces in the immediate work area, as applicable, to prevent contamination. 3.4.3 System balancing. Upon completion of mechanical cleaning, rebalance the ventilation systems to comply with designed flow rates specified in Coast Guard Drawing 905 WMEC 514-001. NOTICE! An allowable range of + or – 5% error will be permitted. 3.5 Operational Post-Test. The Post Operational Test shall be conducted after the completion of work and in accordance with MLCA Std Spec 5100. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE 4.1.Any cleanings or inspections that fail to meet the requirements will be supplied by and be corrected by the Contractor. The Contractor will ensure all deficiencies are corrected until approved by a Coast Guard Inspector. 5. NOTES 5.1Vessel Responsibilities. Coast Guard personnel will operate all shipboard machinery and equipment during all operational tests.
