Description
Renew One-Step Deck Covering System USCGC FORWARD 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope: This work item describes the requirements for the Contractor to remove and renew one-step polymeric deck covering system. 1.2 Locations. 1.2.1Avionics Space 01-103-0-Q, 92 sqft flooring 1.2.2Passageway 01-52-0-L, 127 sqft floor, 58 sqft cove 1.2.3Passageway 1-26-2-L, 126 sqft floor, 54 sqft cove 1.2.4Passageway 1-82-1-L, 102 sqft floor, 68 sqft cove 1.2.5Galley 1-145-2-Q, 266 sqft floor, 66 sqft cove 1.2.6Trash Compactor Room, 1-186-3-Q, 161 sqft floor, 58 sqft cove 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS Commandant’s Instruction Manual, Colors and Coatings Manual COMDTINST M10360.3C Coast Guard Maintenance and Logistics Command Atlantic (MLCA) Standard Specification 6341_STD, 2004 Edition, Renew Deck Covering Systems. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Interferences: The contractor shall be aware that interferences to work include, but are not limited to the following: •Scuttlebutt •Ladder •Hatch •Sounding Tubes •Wire Runs •Damage Control Gear •Galley Equipment •Furniture •Garbage Macerator •Trash Compactor •Piping •Ventilation Ducting 3.2 Remove One Step Deck Coating: The Contractor shall remove, cap, and/or seal necessary one step deck coating. 3.2.1 Removal. Completely remove one step deck coating in Avionics space 01-103-0-Q including underlayment and cove base to expose the metal deck. Also remove a 2 sqft area in passageway 01-52-0-L and a 2 sqft area in passageway 1-82-1-L due to small cracks. 3.2.2 Cleaning. Power tool clean deck to bare metal, SSPC-SP 11 in accordance with Color and Coatings Manual COMDTINST M10360.3C. 3.2.3Priming. Contractor shall apply high build epoxy paint primer with a minimum dry film thickness (DFT) of 4.0-5.0 mils. CAUTION CONTRACTOR MUST PROVIDE MARINE CHEMIST TO CERTIFY SPACE SAFE FOR HOT WORK 3.3 Renew One Step Deck Covering: The Contractor shall renew designated areas of one-step deck covering system including cove base and underlayment. 3.3.1 Standard Spec. Deck covering shall be according to Appendix A of MLCA Standard Specification 6341_STD, 2004 Edition. 3.3.2 Type. Polymeric Epoxy Resin shall be Type III (One-Step) to a thickness of 1/8 inch. 3.3.3 Deck Coloring. Submit a deck covering color chart to Coast Guard Inspector for the purpose of color selection. 3.3.4Capping. Thoroughly cap the deck covering systems, designated in the note below, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. 3.3.4 Sealing. Thoroughly seal the deck covering system, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. NOTE RATHER THAN COMPLETE REMOVAL CONTRACTOR WILL ONLY CAP THE GALLEY (1-145-2-Q), PASSAGEWAY (01-52-0-L), AND PASSAGEWAY (1-82-1-L) AFTER CUTTING OUT THE TWO 2 SQFT DESIGNATED SECTIONS. CONTRACTOR WILL ONLY SEAL TRASH COMPACTOR ROOM (1-186-3-Q) AND PASSAGEWAY (1-26-2-L) 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE 4.1The contractor shall use plastic drop cloths or other suitable means to prevent the spread of dust and debris from the mess deck into the galley and into other adjacent spaces. 4.2The contractor shall provide suitable ventilation for curing of all products. The ship MAY provide some fans to assist with this requirement, if requested by the contractor’s designated representative and agreed to by the ship’s representative. 4.3All trash and debris shall be removed from the ship and ISC Portsmouth. The job site shall be left in a clean and neat manner. Government dumpsters and other trash collecting receptacles are not to be used by the contractor for disposal. 4.4Work shall not be completed/accepted until the ship’s designated representative inspects and accepts the completed project. 5. NOTES 5.1Protective coverings. The contractor shall provide any protective coverings required to prevent damage and contamination of surrounding equipment
