- Description
- NASA Glenn Research Center (NASA GRC) has a requirement for designing, fabricating, and testing a xenon flow control module (XFCM), with options to perform XFCMQualification Testing, fabricate an additional XFCM, and test the XFCM. NASA GRC intends to purchase the items from VACCO Industries, Inc. (VACCO) to avoidduplicating the work performed under previously competed contracts, and due to VACCOsproven capability to meet the specified requirements for reliability, mass, and volume. VACCO developed two flow control modules (FCM) under NASA Marshall Space Flight Center(NASA MSFC) contract NNM04AB12C, a pressure control module (PCM) and controller underNASA GRC Contract NNC07CB69C. We intend to move the functionality of the two FCMs andthe PCM into a single module, and use the controller to operate the XFCM as an entiresystem.XFCM specifications are shown below:Specification/MetricMass/< 1.25 kgFlow Control Accuracy/Better than 3% error EOLFootprint/< 110 cm2Power Consumption/< 1 W steady stateVibration Environment/Frequency (Hz)/G2/Hz /20/0.08 /1000/0.2 /10000/0.2 /2000/0.018 /Overall Grms/14.1 /2 minutes per axisShock Environment/Frequency (Hz)/Gs /100/100 /1000/2000 /10000/2000 Thermal Environment/12oC - 70oCMax. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
