Description
Contract Award Amount equals $2,350,000.00 Recovery Funds, and $1,465,600.00 Non-Recovery Funds. Solicitation W912EK-10-R-0029 has been awarded under contract W912EK-10-C-0069. Channels and backwaters areas of the Illinois River will be dredged using a high solids mechanical dredging methodology to varying depths. The dredged material will be placed inside of three rows of existing geotextile containers to construct an island. An additional row of geotextile containers will be placed on top of the existing geotextile containers and will be filled with dredged material using a high solids mechanical dredging methodology. Riprap will be placed to construct two rock closure structures and seventeen jetties adjacent to the island. During excavation, the contractor should expect to encounter debris such as trees, stumps, snags, metallic scrap, boat parts, tires, rope, cable, and other items that are commonly found in backwater areas of the Illinois River. The Contractor will separate and remove debris from the work site. Access from the navigation channel may be available by a previously dredged channel; however, the Contractor shall verify access requirements. All movement of floating plants may be restricted by shallow water. Peoria Riverfront Development, Illinois (Ecosystem Restoration) Upper Mid-sized Island Critical Restoration Project, Stage II, Illinois Waterway, River Miles 165.5 166.0, Tazewell County, Illinois.
