- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for a Positioning System for Low Temperature with thefollowing:Part# 1002816 ANPz101/RES/LT z-positioner made from Titanium for precise positioningwith absolute readout for low temperature conditions with resistive encoderPart# 1002810 ANPx101/RES/LT x-positioner made form Titanium for precise positioningwith absolute readout for low temperature conditions with resistive encoderPart# 1002798 ANGt101/RES/LT Goniometer made from Titanium for precise tilting withabsolute readout for low temperature conditions with resistive encoderPart# 1002232 ANR101/RES/LT rotator made from Titanium for precise rotating withabsolute readout for low temperature conditions with resistive encoderPart# 1000421 ANC350/4/RES Piezo Motion Controller for closed loop control of up to 4attocube positioners with /RES encodersNASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Attocube Systems pursuant to FAR 13.106,for the acquisition of supplies and services determined to be reasonably available fromonly one source. Attocube s positioning system provide compact stacked stages thatprovide from four to five axes of motion at cryogenic temperatures. The task that thesestages (or micro-positioners) must meet is to position the end of an optical fiber infour axes, in order to align it with an optical beam, launching the beam into the fiber.Stages must operate at cryogenic temperatures (40K) and in vacuum. Stages must stack up no higher than 6'. They will hang upside down from a cold plate. They must be robust enough to allow flipping the stacked assembly as the cold plate isturned upside-down into position for insertion into the dewar. Range of motion should be at least 5 mm encoded linear travel and 6 encoded rotationaltravel in tip/tilt. The motion resolution or step size should be equal to or less than 0.5 m and 0.5miliradian.The stages shall be controlled. A valuable option would be user-ready controls on thecontroller box or computer screen.Stages shall have position encoders, allowing closed-loop positioning. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact no later than 2:30PM EST on datelisted above. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purposeof determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Adetermination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note 'B'.
