- Description
- RECOVERY - This action is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Actof 2009. Task 089-R is a research and development effort. Research funded by this taskwill focus on addressing the capacity challenges facing the US national airspace. It hasbeen forecast that over the next 15 years, air traffic in the United States will double, far exceeding the countrys current capability to safely fly aircraft. To handle thisgrowth, NASA is contributing to the development of the Next Generation Air TransportationManagement System (NextGen). The UARC shall conduct analysis of the traffic impact on regional air routes from theinsertion of one to multiple UASs. The data from the analysis may be used to design anunmanned flight trajectory that will have the lowest impact on the overall air trafficand to support the safety case for UAS access to the National Air Space (NAS). The resultof this task is data that can design safe and efficient flight paths for UAS that travelin regional air routes. This award notice is for INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. The task order is issued under anexisting Cost-Plus-Award-Fee contract NAS2-03144, which was made on a competitive basis.Due to the variability of this research and development work a Cost-Plus-Award-Fee taskorder was determined appropriate. This modification includes both the core and ARPportions of the task.
