- Description
- Mechanical Mowing Operations shall be performed by tractor mounted mowing equipment capable of cutting vegetation in the range of diameters found within the designated stands. Generally herbaceous material and woody vegetation up to 1 ½ ” diameter range. Larger diameter stems designated for removal may be within the brushing limits and will be felled by chainsaw or brushsaw if unable to be mechanically treated. 670-2 – EQUIPMENT AND TOOL REQUIREMENTS. Debrushing operations shall be performed according to item description shown above. All Items: Tractor mounted mechanized brushing equipment with supplemental hand held power equipment. A powered cutting machine capable of cutting wood vegetation up to 1 ½ “ diameter. Note: I have mostly had 4 wheel drive utility tractors pulling a PTO driven rotary cutting bar such as a Woods, or Bush-Hog. The tractor horse power range in the past has been 35hp or greater and the larger hp tractors can pull a wider mower, up to 8 feet but these areas can also be done with a 5 or 6 foot deck. I would like to use 4 wheel drive tractors to avoid getting stuck. I have had a tractor with a front-attached mower deck and that is acceptable. Schedule Notes: I plan to schedule between 140-200 acres annually from the list. Mowing frequency can be up to two cuttings per year or as infrequent as once every 2 or 3 years. I started splitting stands into a five year rotation but from what I understood from you, I’d make work orders for 2010, 2011, and so on. The Middlebury and Rochester Districts can be combined into one offer and Manchester would be another offer. I have identified 2010 work from the list of areas
