Description
ANSWERS TO QUESTONS RECEIVED. Question 1: What size is the water main that the fire hydrants will be attached to. Not able to determine from the drawings. RESPONSE: 6 inch transient pipe or AC. Question 2: How will water be shut down during the process ? Don't believe there is controlling valve to shut of individually. We noted a hospital in close proximity during the visit. Will shut down affect the hospital ? RESPONSE: Hospital will be re-routed and highly recommend to change out the hydrant during weekends, if so the contractorhas to make their arrangement with the concrete company if utilizing a concrete for the construction. That means the contractorhas to expose the fire hydrant or prepare to change it over duringweek days and have the hydrant change during the weekend. Question 3: Who will shut down the water, the contractor or the BIA ? RESPONSE: Have schedule with our department so we can havethe water shut down-in previously fire hydrant change over we hadthe contractor turned on and shut the water off themselves - we justshow them where the valves was located and this was done on the weekend. This how we change over the previously 6 hydrantsthe last time. Question 4: Who is responsible for securing the power pole next to next to one of the fire hydrants ? RESPONSE: We can contact the power company and notify them of the work and from then on they will let us know who is responsiblefor the power poles. When the Blue Staking is done this should be included of what one should do if there should be a utility located by the fire hydrants. Question 5 A few of the existing fire hydrants have a bollard in frontof them. Do you want us to include installing (2) new ballards in frontof each fire hydrant ? RESPONSE: YES Question 6: After looking at each hydrant, they are all in dirt so we areassuming that we will not have to provide any asphalt or concrete of any kind. Would that be correct ? RESPONSE: EACH HYDRANT SHOULD HAVE THE BREAK AWAY BOLTSEXPOSED ABOVE GROUND AND THIS WILL AVOID HAVING THE HYDRANTBURIED IN THE GROUND (RAISE THE HYDRANTS ABOVE GROUND). IF THERE SHOULD BE AN ASPHALT OR CONCRETE REMOVED BY THE HYDRANTS THEN IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. Question 7: If we have to remove part of a fence line or concrete curbto complete installation of the fire hydrant, should we include that cost of installing new fence or curb if necessary ? RESPONSE: YES. EVERYTHING REMOVED SHOULD BE REPLACED-IF DAMAGED, OTHERWISE THE FENCING MATERAIL CAN BE RE-USED,WHERE THE CURBING CANNOT BE RE-USED. Question 8: Do we bring our sealed bid to the 2600 N. Central Ave,Suite #450 location? RESPONSE: Please direct your attention to the Standard Form 1442, Item 13which reads: "Sealed offers in original and 1 copies to perform the workrequired are due at the place specified in Item 8 by 2:00 PM local time,03-16-2010 (date). If this is a sealed bid solicitation, offers will be publicallyopened at that time.... " Block 8 contains the "2600 N. Central, Suite 450, Phoenix, AZ 85004-3050" address.
