- Sources Sought forSteam Trap Evaluation, Service, and Replacement Project GENERAL VHSO Fayetteville is seeking qualified and experienced contractors/vendors/service providers to evaluate, service, and replace steam traps at the VHSO Fayetteville, Arkansas campus. PROJECT DESCRIPTION (a)Project Narrative. The selected provider will be expected to perform/furnish the following. (1)Evaluation of (in service) steam traps on the VHSO Fayetteville campus. A master list of all steam traps will be developed as the evaluation is performed that will show the steam trap identification mark, location, type, manufacturer model number, and system/equipment served. Steam traps are to be labeled (tagged) at the time of the evaluation to correspond to the identification mark in the master list. (2)Repair or replacement of traps found to be not functioning correctly or defective. (3)CAD drawings of the selected areas for evaluation showing the plan view of steam supply and return piping with locations of all steam using equipment and accessories (including steam traps). In addition system riser diagrams showing both steam supply and condensate return piping and all major steam equipment and accessories (including steam traps) will be required. (4)Comprehensive training of VHSO Fayetteville engineering service personnel in troubleshooting and maintaining steam traps. (5)A final report detailing the evaluation, corrective actions, and listing any recommendations for improving operations and maintenance of VHSO Fayetteville steam systems. BACKGROUND (a)VHSO Fayetteville Steam Systems. Steam is provided to the VHSO Fayetteville campus from the central steam plant located in building ten on the northwest corner of the VHSO Fayetteville Campus. The existing, central steam plant consists of three, 250 hp, gas fired steam boilers and associated equipment and piping that produce 85-115 psi steam for distribution to the campus. At the building level, reducing stations take the steam down to appropriate levels for use of the systems and equipment served. In addition, steam is produced by a stand-alone 40 hp, gas fired boiler dedicated to the heating system in building forty-four (Mental Health). VHSO Fayetteville steam systems serve a multitude of systems including HVAC, sterilizers (waste), laundry, autoclaves, and domestic water heating. A variety of types of steam traps are installed across the campus including inverted bucket, float and thermostatic, and thermostatic. REQUESTED QUALIFICATIONS (SUBMIT) (a)General. Prospective providers should be contractors/vendors/service providers that can demonstrate experience with the installation and maintenance of steam systems and piping; troubleshooting and diagnosing steam trap problems; repair and replacement of faulty steam traps, and training personnel in the maintenance of steam systems. Only prospective providers with a minimum of five completed projects within the past three years (defined as 2007 - present) will be considered. Prospective providers are advised to submit the following: (1)Company history. (2)Experience and qualifications of key personnel. (3)Pertinent previous projects with dates and contact information for references (minimum five projects in the last three years). Project submissions should include a detailed description of the work performed. (4)List of test equipment and/or instrumentation that will be used in the evaluation, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of VHSO Fayetteville steam traps.
