Description
DESCRIPTION OF WORK BACKGROUND Mission Statement The Office of Administration is committed to superior customer service in support of the Division's mission. About The Criminal Division The Criminal Division develops, enforces, and supervises the application of all federal criminal laws except those specifically assigned to other divisions. The Division and the 93 U.S. Attorneys have the responsibility for overseeing criminal matters under the more than 900 statutes as well as certain civil litigation. Criminal Division (CRM) attorneys prosecute many nationally significant cases. In addition to its direct litigation responsibilities, the Division formulates and implements criminal enforcement policy and provides advice and assistance. For example, the Division approves or monitors sensitive areas of law enforcement such as participation in the Witness Security Program and the use of electronic surveillance; advises the Attorney General, Congress, the Office of Management Budget and the White House on matters of criminal law; provides legal advice and assistance to federal prosecutors and investigative agencies; and provides leadership for coordinating Domestic as well as federal, state, and local law enforcement matters. Description of Work The Contractor shall approach this work in multiple phases by defining and executing the Contractor's engagement methodology to deliver a roadmap and strategy for Network Assessment. The Contractor shall provide recommendation in the areas of Network infrastructure improvements, Remote Access capabilities, Optimal WAN Performance, Storage Area Network configuration. The Contractor shall execute the following phases: Requirements Definition Phase The Contractor shall work with the USDOJ/CRM IT staff and business units to gain an understanding of the USDOJ/CRM's business requirements, current facilities, application services and desired / required IT features, functionality and capabilities. •• Document Business Need: •o The business requirements definition does not specify a technology solution, but identifies necessary functions, independent of platform. An aspect of documenting business need is to determine prioritized success criteria based on requirements. •• Document Technical Requirements: •o The requirements definition process maps business needs to technical requirements, addressing the following areas: •· Telecommunications Infrastructure Requirements •· Technology selection. •· Geographical needs in terms of access and core infrastructure capability. •· Growth patterns. •· Network performance, bandwidth capacity, and reliability requirements. •· Business continuity requirements. •· Enterprise Operating Systems Requirements. •· Requirements for access to computing resources during business hours of operation. •· Client service level requirements and access mechanisms. •· Remote access/interconnection requirements with other entities. •· Operations Management Requirements •· Fault management, including recovery from outages and proactive fault monitoring. •· Configuration management, including change management. •· Performance management, the responsiveness of applications and service elements, and proactive actions such as performance monitoring and capacity planning. •· Security management, including policies, procedures, access controls and security-related network services such as intrusion detection, authentication authorization, and accounting (AAA), and perimeter security devices. •· Current and future requirements for people, processes and tools. •· Remote Access Policy
