Description
BEI Statement of Work This is a follow-on Research and Development support effort to complete the development of the Space Weather Modeling System (SWMS) into compliance with the Earth System Modeling Framework. The contractor will develop an ensemble forecast version of the Space Weather Modeling System (eSWMS) by coupling the Global Assimilation of Ionospheric Measurements (GAIM1) model, developed by Space Environment Corporation, Providence, UT with the Hakamada-Akasofu-Fry (HAFv2) Solar Wind Model, developed by Exploration Physics International, Huntsville, AL. The ensemble forecast capability will produce a several-day foreocast of the solar wind and iononsphere. First, the contractor will determine model and data uncertainties of SWMS. Second, the contractor will produce an ensemble type forecast capability with "most probable" and associated uncertainties. The undertainties will contain both ensemble variation and known model uncertainties. Ionospheric representation of uncertainties will be developed in collaboration with Air Force Weather Agency scientists for space weather needs. The contractos is solely responsible for the completion of all required tasks identified within the SOW and to provide traceable levels of effort toward desired program objectives. All work will be completed one year after award. Award is anticipated 26 March 2010. This acquisition is unrestricted as to business size.
