Description
This is a Request For Information (RFI) in regards to a NAVAIR requirement for a modified, commercially available horizontal quench vacuum furnace intended for heat treating components for the U.S. Navy. NAVAIR Lakehurst, NJ seeks potential sources and no cost product information of commercially available horizontal quench vacuum furnaces. This RFI is for planning purposes and information only and should not be construed as a solicitation for applications or an obligation on the part of the government. The government will not pay for the preparation of any information submitted or for the government’s use of that information. Background The horizontal quench vacuum furnace shall be a furnace used to heat treat components for Navy applications with internal dimensions of 24” x 36” x 24”. The furnace shall be a new, commercially available model. A commercially available model is defined as the Contractor’s model which, on the date this solicitation is issued, has been designed, engineered, sold, or is being offered for sale through advertisements or the Contractor’s published catalogue or brochures. Products such as a prototype unit, pre-production model, or experimental unit do not qualify as meeting the requirements specified herein. However, the Government will consider changes to an existing commercially available product design that may improve the efficiency, accuracy, or productivity of the machine or decrease its operational costs. The furnace shall be capable of oil quenching and rapid air cool quenching and must be able to reach at least 2400°F. Information Requested Information in the following areas will assist NAVAIR Lakehurst in the development of its procurement strategy. Qualified vendors should provide the following: Product Literature: Brochures, catalogs, or other documents listing commercially available horizontal quench vacuum furnaces; Detailed product descriptions of horizontal quench vacuum furnaces; Procurement history with horizontal quench vacuum furnaces; Long-Term Reliability and maintainability data; including the expected life (in years); Product drawings and photographs of horizontal quench vacuum furnaces. Typical production plans and installation timeframes.
