Description
The purpose of this amendment is to provide the details from the questions and answers received, and to extend the offer due date. The hour and date specified for receipt of quotes is extended to March 12, 2010, at 4:00pm. The following is the Questions and Answers: Question 1: With regards to fuel for the charter vessel, if it is not going to be used on a consumption usage basis, can I get an idea of how many hours a day the vessel will need to be underway? Also, how many miles is the area stretch where the capturing will take place? Answer 1: It is difficult to predict how much we will need to move around to find suitable areas for catching sea otters and avoiding rough weather, but typically, once we find a good spot, we can anchor up for 2-4 days and then move to another spot for 2-4 days and so on until we meet our capture goals. However, if sheltered areas for anchoring the charter vessel overnight are not sufficiently close to the otter capture sites that they can be reached easily by small skiffs, then it may be necessary for the charter vessel to move closer to the otter capture sites on a daily basis. About 55 nm separates the two target areas (the mouth of Nuchatlitz Inlet and Vargas Island/Tofino), but again, how far we need to travel within each area to capture enough sea otters is hard to predict because it depends on the number of otters and the weather conditions we encounter. Question 2: The RFQ states Western Vancouver Island, is this referring to the Pacific Ocean exposed side of the Island? Answer 2: Yes. Question 3: Is it possible to have the vessel inspection completed in Southern California instead of Washington? Answer 3: No. Offers must acknowledge receipt of this amendment prior to the hour and date specified in the Comibined Synopsis / Solicitation by one of the following methods: 1 - By acknowledging receipt of this amendment on each copy of the offer submitted; 2 - By a separate letter or email that inlcudes a reference to the solicitation amendment number 0001. FAILURE OF YOUR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO BE RECEIVED AT THE PLACE DESIGNATED FOR THE RECEIPT OF QUOTATIONS PRIOR TO THE HOUR AND DATE SPECIFIED MAY RESULT IN REJECTION OF YOUR OFFER. If by virtue of the amendment you desire to change an offer already submitted, such change may be made by letter or email, provided that the letter or email references the above-mentioned amendment number, and is received prior to the offer due date specified.
