- THIS IS AN AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT (ARRA) PROCUREMENT. The purpose of this announcement is to make notice that the Forest Service contemplates releasing a solicitation numbered AG-0489-S-10-0346 on or about March 18, 2010, for the RECOVERY George Island Trail Reconstruction project. If the solicitation is released, it will be released through this FedBizOpps website, and prospective bidders should visit this FedBizOpps website from time to time on or after March 18, 2010 to obtain a copy of the solicitation. This notice meets the requirements of FAR 5.201. However, the Forest Service reserves the right not to release a solicitation. PROJECT DESCRIPTION. This work involves the construction/reconstruction of approximately 2,900 feet of trail. Major work items are aggregate trail surfacing, stone riser steps, stone pitching, stone rest areas, and miscellaneous work. The intent of this contract is to provide for the complete project described in the contract. Unless otherwise provided, the Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and supplies and perform all work required to complete the project in accordance with the specifications and provisions of the contract. The Government estimate is between $100,000 and $250,000. PROJECT LOCATION. The project site is about 35 air miles west of Hoonah, Alaska on George Island. Access is by boat or by small plane. There are no utilities onsite. The nearest community is Elfin Cove, Alaska, located 2 miles east. Pelican, Alaska is located about 25 miles south and receives periodic service from the Alaska Marine Highway ferry. PARTICIPATION. This project is a Total HUB-ZONE Business Set-Aside. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered. All prospective bidders are invited to notify the contracting officer of their interest in the acquisition.
