Description
On Wednesday, 17 March 2010, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC) will host an Industry Day to discuss upcoming acquisitions for all construction projects that fall under the Research Support Building (RSB) Program. SLAC will procure the following items in support of the SLAC RSB Program: 1. Project Title: New Construction of Building (B052) Magnitude of project: More than $10,000,000 Work Includes: - Demolition of 13 existing trailers in the new building footprint (approximately 20,000 square feet). - Re-route existing utility in the new building footprint - Construction of new three story energy efficient and environmentally sustainable Office Building in the range of 53,000 square feet to 64,000 square feet. The new building will obtain LEED Gold Certification. - The project anticipates issuing one contract for B052. The delivery method of the B052 building will be Design/Build contract. 2. Project Title: Renovation of Warehouse/User Building (B028) Magnitude of Project: Between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000 Work includes: - Demolition and reconstruction of approximately 20,000 square feet to convert the entire interior of the building to office space, engineering support workspace, ADA compliant restrooms, break rooms. - Conversion of the salvage yard at the rear of the building into parking and add parking at the remaining three sides of the building. - The renovation of B028 will obtain LEED Gold Certification. - The project anticipates issuing one contract for the renovation of Warehouse/User Building (B028). The design will be provided by SLAC. 3. Project Title: Renovation of Engineering and Administrative Building (B041) Magnitude of Project: More than $10,000,000 Work includes: - Demolition and reconstruction of the entire existing two story building, approximately 44,000 square feet. A new building lobby is provided with a new restroom core, stairs and a 2-stop elevator. - The new stairs and elevator replace the existing exterior double run of concrete stairs. A two story glazed curtain wall is provided to enclose a double height lobby space. - The renovation of B041 will obtain LEED Gold Certification. - The project anticipates hiring one General Contractor for the renovation of Engineering and Administrative Building (B041). The design will be provided by SLAC. 4. Project Title: Demolition of Temporary Structures Outside of Building 052 footprint Magnitude of Project: Between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 Work includes: - Decommission and demolish approximately 25 trailers and temporary structures totaling approximately 45,000 gross square feet. 5. General Project Support and Design a. Pre-construction Services/ Construction Management - Staff augmentation or complete CM team depending on project needs. b. Professional Services - firms capable and experienced with this type and size of projects. - Architectural/Engineering - Geotechnical Engineering - Commissioning for both start-up and LEED® certification - Special Inspections The RSB Program overview will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. PST, at the SLAC Panofsky Auditorium, 2575 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025. SLAC Project Managers will also make themselves available for 15 minute one-on-one sessions with interested vendors who have further questions about the project. One-on-one space is very limited and will only be made available on a first-come-first-serve basis. To attend, interested parties must RSVP with Jose Gutierrez, Senior Subcontract Administrator. Only those parties who RSVP and meet the criteria (identified below) will be invited to attend. Contractors and consultants shall be capable and experienced with the type and size of the various projects. Consultants/ contractors with a minimum 10 years of similar experience, and preferably government and in particular DOE experience are invited to this event. All work at SLAC is performed in conformance with Department of Energy Orders. Attendance is limited to two people per registered organization. Registration closes 15 March 2010. Throughout the acquisition process SLAC will be posting updates to the RSB acquisitions, including questions and answers, on the Federal Business Opportunities Website.
