Description
Statement of Work Contemporary Service Music Director 1. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: a. Serves as Contemporary Service Music Director for all Protestant Community's worship/music programs. The Music Director consults and coordinates with the Chaplain. 2. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: a. Have an understanding of music that is appropriate for a Contemporary Worship Service. b. Must be able to understand and facilitate the singing or contemporary Christianpraise and worship music (with or without written music). c. Have at least one year of experience facilitating contemporary praise and worship music. Strong preference will be given to experience as a military service chapel music coordinator. d. Have a basic proficiency with a musical instrument typically using in contemporary Christina praise and worship music (keyboards, guitar, strings, percussion, or brass. e. Participate in a qualifying interview and be able to clearly express the details of basic contemporary Christian praise and worship music and to demonstrate basic proficiency on a musical instrument (listed in 2.d). Applicant must bring a musical instrument to the interview (unless pre-arrangements have been made with the chapel staff to provide for the use of one) and demonstrate proficiency. f. Have a AA or BA degree. g. Furnish a resume with three references and transcripts with bid package. h. Applicant must undergo a successful background check after selection. i. Applicant must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database (http://www.ccr.gov) prior to being awarded the contract. 3. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: a. Provide services for all regularly scheduled Contemporary Protestant Worship Services, praise band/praise team rehearsals and special event programs. b. Conduct all rehearsals and performances in the chapel facility, unless and alternated location is approved by the Senior Chaplain or his/her designate. c. Coordinate all musical selections with Chaplain responsible for the service. Coordination will take place prior to rehearsals. d. Have a working knowledge of the chapel sound system. Be able to set-up, hook-up and operate the audio/visual equipment as required by the Contemporary Worship Service. e. Be involved in the recruitment and training of praise band and praise team members. f. Work in conjunction with other musicians and pastoral team to continually upgrade the music library and repertoires used in the parish. g. Have a basic understanding of military protocol and possess the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. h. Notify the Chaplain when unable to attend rehearsal or worship service, at least two weeks in advance. Emergencies will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. i. Be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. 4. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: a. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of worship service or praise band/praise team rehearsal. b. Be accountable for opening and securing the chapel building and other facilities used for praise bank/praise team activities during use. 5. SERVICES/PAYMENTS: a. Each service of worship is considered one unit for pay purpose. b. Each praise band/praise team rehearsal (a minimum of one hour) is considered one unit for pay purposes. c. A "unit" is the basis for compensation. Compensation will be paid based on the following "units" after the "unit" is performed/provided. Any additional service or rehearsal "units" must be pre-approved by the Chaplain. The contract shall furnish the following units of service: Worship Services (52 units)Each Worship Service counts as one unit Rehearsals (52 units) Each Rehearsal counts as one unit Rehearsal preparation (52 units) Each rehearsal prep counts as one unit Special Services (10 units) Each Special Service counts as one unit TOTAL NOT TO EXCEED 166 UNITS 6. THE SENIOR PROTESTANT CHAPLAIN WILL: a. Review the contract annually b. Ensure that the rate of payment for the services described in the SOW will be by the unit. 7. THE CONTRACT MONITOR: a. The Contract Monitor shall monitor and inspect the contractor's performance. The contractor will be notified in writing of all noncompliance work, and will be given an opportunity to respond in writing to any notice of noncompliance. A copy of the written documentation will be provided to the Contracting Officer.
