Description
Recovery Action. For Informational Purposes Only. This action is Work Authorization No. AT/NS03/10/ARRA-1, Rev. 01 (LASO # RA-10-023) and is issued under Management & Operating (M&O) Contract number DE-AC52-06NA25396. This action is funded by Recovery Act dollars. The M&O Contractor DUNS number is 175252894. The description of the work involved under this Work Authorization is shown below: Provide for improvements in infrastructure for Innovative Confinement Concepts Experiments by building a state-of-the-art digital framing camera for an existing project. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Glen Wurden. Justification for Non-Fixed Price Type of Contract for WA* (added to description in FedBizOpps): Los Alamos National Security (LANS) was selected by the Department of Energy to participate in this American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) work due to Los Alamos National Laboratory’s expertise in the subject matter. The funds will support the building of the digital framing camera which will then significantly improve the near-term chances of finding better ways to confine plasmas and to understand the properties of these plasmas. The work falls within the Fusion Energy Sciences Program of the Office of Science, which is allowed under the prime contract Section J, Appendix B. Statement of Work Section 3.3.4 entitled Fusion Energy Sciences of the current Contract based on the following paragraph: “The Contractor shall conduct fusion energy efforts aimed at modest scale experimental, theoretical and technological studies to advance plasma science, fusion science and fusion technology.” This is a Cost-Reimbursable type contract. NOTE: This action has been awarded under Modification no. A113 that recognizes Work Authorization no. RA-10-023 issued under Management and Operating Contract number DE-AC52-06NA25396.
