- For planning and information purposes, the Ogden Air Logistics Center, 500 Combat Sustainment Squadron, Atmospheric Early Warning System Flight (500 CBSS/GBLA) is seeking potential sources for an engineering study to determine how to best provide lightning protection per FAA-STD-019 and NFPA 780 and grounding per Mil-Std-188-124B for AN/FPS-117 Long Range Radar Radomes located in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Alaska, and Canada and AN/FPS-124 Short Range Radar radomes located in Canada. Both AN/FPS-117 and AN/FPS-124 radomes are subject to winds of up to 210 mph and can be covered with ice. The AN/FPS-117 radomes have a 658 inch diameter with a base diameter of 600 inches. Platforms are approximately 28 feet tall. The AN/FPS-124 radomes have a 287 inch diameter with a base diameter of 251 inches. Platforms are approximately 100 feet tall. This requirement is anticipated to be full and open competition (large and small business). If the government determines two small businesses are capable, this effort will be a small business set aside. Please describe your company's experience in lightning protection and grounding in accordance with FAA-STD-019, NFPA 780, and Mil-Std-188-124B. 2. Please describe your company's experience in designing lightning protection systems for items (radomes) that are subject to be covered with snow and/or ice, and where snow and/or ice removal from the structure is desirable. 3. Please describe your company's experience in working with structural prime contractors to achieve win-win lightning protection. 4. Please provide any additional information you feel would assist the government in determining your ability to perform the engineering study.
