Description
Military Sealift Command (MSC) intends to extend performance for a 6-month period under Contract #N00033-05-C-5350 utilizing FAR 52.217-8, Option to Extend Services (Nov 1999) on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Performance under this contract is currently scheduled to end on 30 September 2010 and the exercise of the aforementioned option would extend performance through 31 March 2011. Under this contract, the Contractor, Ocean Ships, Inc. (OSI), provides operation and maintenance support of four, 35,000 DWT Champion Class Tankers (T-5). Furthermore, OSI provides qualified ship operators and crew, operational and technical support (ashore and afloat), equipment, tools, provisions and supplies to operate, maintain, and repair these Government-owned vessels. One of the four ships under this contract, the USNS LAWRENCE H. GIANELLA (T-AOT 1125), is currently serving in support of the MSC’s PM3 for Prepositioning in Diego Garcia. It should be noted that a synopsis of the follow-on procurement for these services for the USNS LAWRENCE H. GIANELLA was recently posted to the Federal Business Opportunities website under solicitation #N00033-10-R-3140. The period of performance anticipated for this follow-on procurement is a base period of 182 days with four (4), one-year options. The current contract as well as the follow-on procurement have been set aside for small business concerns. This sole source extension under Contract #N00033-05-C-5350 shall provide MSC with sufficient time to competitively reprocure these operation and maintenance services. All responsible sources for the six-month extension may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by MSC.
