Description
Type of Acquisition: 8(a) Sole Source Award Project No: 4230 The Project Description is as Follows: The Coyote Valley Dam / Lake Mendocino Project is located in Mendocino County, some three miles northeast of the City of Ukiah. Park Headquarters, located at 1160 Lake Mendocino Drive, is easily accessible via the Lake Mendocino Drive exit from Highway 101. After exit, head north on State Street and then east on to Lake Mendocino Drive. The purpose of work is to re-roof two single-story buildings, referred to as Buildings #1 and #2, located at park headquarters. Existing composition and tar & gravel type roofing would be replaced with new sheet metal type roofing. Building #1 serves as the main office to the Project, while Building #2 is used as a conference, storage and exercise area. For a site map, refer to Sheet 1. Proposed work covered by this section consists of furnishing all labor, materials and equipment to perform work required to re-roof Building #1 and Building # 2, to the satisfaction of the U.S. Government. Work shall include the removal and proper disposal of all roofing materials. Note that existing roofing materials for both buildings were recently sampled and lab tested for asbestos, and Building #1 does contain asbestos in the mastic sealant around the roof jacks and the skylights which will need to be properly disposed of. Both buildings are single story wood frame structures with mild gable-type roof slopes of 12 on 1 and 12 on 2. Roof areas for Buildings #1 and #2 are approximately 3,850 and 3,500 square feet, respectively. The total roof area for Building #1 includes 250 sq.ft. for an entrance-way patio. Typical building plans and sections are shown on Sheet 2. Building # 1's main roof consists of a 3-inch thick insulated composite roof deck overlayed by a layer of composition-type rolled roofing and a top layer of a tar & gravel roofing. The patio roof to Building #1 consists of lightweight fiberglass sheets secured to 2" x 4" redwood purlins. Building # 2's roof was also constructed with the 3-inch thick insulated composite roof deck. Some years ago original roofing (minus the roof deck) was removed and replaced with 2"x 4" purlins, ¾ inch plywood sheathing, and composition-type rolled roofing. For Building #1, the Contractor shall remove and dispose of all roofing materials overlaying the insulated composite roof deck. This work should be conducted in a manner to minimize any potential damage to the existing roof deck, since it is not to be removed. The Contractor shall then install new purlins and sheathing (over composite roof deck) to prepare a proper base for a new sheet metal roof. For the patio roof, the Contractor shall replace old purlins with new 2"x 4" redwood purlins (@ 16" o.c.) to prepare and adequate base. For Building # 2, existing roofing shall be removed to the plywood sheathing layer, which should serve as an adequate base for the new sheet metal roof. The Contactor shall install a new 24 gauge, Metal Sales "Snap-Loc 24" metal panel roof, or its equivalent, on both Buildings. Both buildings shall also be fitted with new roof jacks and/or flashing as well as new 24 guage seamless steel rain gutters (5 ½" fascia type) and rectangular (1 ¾" x 2 ¾") downspouts. Gutters shall be finished with baked-on ocean blue colored paint.
