Description
This notice is issued by the NASA/LaRC to post a draft Statement of Work via theinternet, and solicit responses from interested parties. This document is forinformation and planning purposes and to allow industry the opportunity to verifyreasonableness and feasibility of the requirement, as well as promote competition. Prospective offerors are invited to submit written comments or questions to:ceseley.dunbar@nasa.gov, no later than January 6, 2010. Please review the SOW and comment on what requirements are going to pose the technicalchallenges and consequently drive the risk and/or cost of each component. We areparticularly interested in the following sections of the SOW:Structural design concept to achieve geometry in section 3.2.1, Structural stiffness in section 3.2.2, Leak rate in section 3.2.4, Structural attachment to the centerbody in section 3.2.11, Multiple layered flexible Thermal Protection System in section 3.3.1,TPS attachment to the structure (section 3.3.3) and nose (section 3.3.6)We are interested in the areas where you feel you can easily satisfy a requirement, andif you have suggestions for what a more challenging, but not significantly risky, valuewould be. Are there target values in the SOW that you feel are unattainable?This synopsis is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will theGovernment pay for the information submitted in response. Respondents will not benotified of the results.An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B".The statement of work will be available over the Internet. It will reside on a WorldWide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
