- Description
- The NAICS Code is 332995. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD), Port Hueneme, California, intends to issue a Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee Order on a sole source basis to BAE Systems, Armament Systems Division, 163 Rochester Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40214-2683, under Basic Ordering Agreement Number N00024-G-07-5438. The contractor shall produce and deliver a bearing assembly, NAVSEA part number 53711-8199096, (Bofors P/N 03 044 216) that is manufactured in North America. This train bearing shall be used on U. S. Gun Mounts #10 and onward unless otherwise directed by Naval Sea Systems Command. The current train bearing is manufactured in Germany by Rothe Erde and the North American licensee or subsidiary is Rotek of Aurora, Ohio. In order to meet the requirements of the Berry Amendment and 10 USC 2534, future slewing or train bearings are required to be manufactured and assembled in North America. The Contractor shall prepare a NAVSEA formatted drawing from the current Bofors and Rothe Erde design which is base lined for MK 110 MOD 0, as described in the Technical Instruction; the NAVSEA drawing shall be used in the manufacture, test and delivery of the train bearing from a North American source. The train bearing shall meet current Bofors design specifications for the MK 110 in fit, form and function. This train bearing shall be used in the US Gun Mount #10 intended for the U. S. Coast Guard WMSL Class National Security Cutter. NAVSEA drawings in accordance with the applicable drawing standards shall be maintained during the transition to a North American source and delivered as a part of the scope of this effort. Necessary engineering product support activities during bearing fabrication and test shall be included in the scope of this effort. The completed train bearing shall pass First Article Testing and all applicable Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for the individual train bearing itself as well as the finished MK 110 MOD 0 Gun Mount. BAE Systems Land & Armaments, L.P., ASD, is the only qualified contractor within the United States capable of manufacturing, overhauling, upgrading and performing depot-level repair and service of the Navy's GWSRP Gun System. Only BAE has the necessary in-depth knowledge of Navy gun design, production, assembly, and testing techniques regarding these weapons, including the necessary tooling an in-house capability to build, repair and maintain these guns. BAE is the only known company with the requisite technical qualifications and facilities to perform the work in the required timeframe.
