Currently, Western uses a combinationofeither Valve Regulated Batteries or flooded-cell battery with a generatortobackup the failure of the station service power provided by a localutility.Western is interested in alternate forms of backup that reduces oreliminatesthe required battery on site. This alternative power system will need tooperate at elevations from 5,000 feet to 11,600 feet. The system will becalled upon to deliver between 800 and 3000 Watts into a 48Vdc system forup to72 hours, depending on the site. The operating range could vary from -20 Fto+125 F if the backup generator fails or the backup system is installedoutside.Systems that propose to also eliminate the generator will be considered.Typical 240Vac generators provided is 15kW to 35kW, again depending on thesiterequirements. Please submit electronic copies of company brochures and/ orcutsheets defining the technology employed and the site footprint required forthesystem. Also provide references of where the technology is currently being used.
