Description
Statement of Objectives Request for Information The United States Mint is exploring ways to increase circulating usage of $1 coins in commercial transactions. As part of that process, the United States Mint is requesting information from individuals or firms capable of providing services or programs that will help achieve robust circulation of $1 coins. The scope of these services may include the full range of market development, trade relations, associated marketing services, and/or any other appropriate methods to achieve the stated objective. The United States Mint's objective is to achieve significant, sustained, widespread, and measurable increases in the number of $1 coins in circulation. The United States Mint does not expect to achieve this objective immediately but, rather, envisions that the objective would be reached over a period of years and through measures that may include tailored approaches to meet the demand of different commercial sectors, regions, channels, and markets. The United States Mint is looking for potential vendors that have the following capabilities: The capability to design and implement a program that is likely to significantly contribute to the robust circulation of $1 coins and that: complies with a broad range of laws, regulations, and policies that govern Federal agencies; is consistent with $1 coin authorizing legislation (e.g., 31 U.S.C. §§ 5112(p) and (r)); and is consistent with the need to maintain high levels of public trust, confidence, and approbation in the integrity and operations of the United States Mint and the Department of the Treasury. The United States Mint is requesting literature (not more than 10 one-sided pages), that will demonstrate the vendor's ability to meet the specified capabilities outlined above. This literature will be accepted and reviewed by the United States Mint on a rolling basis between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010. No additional information is requested at this time. Those Offerors, whose responses to this RFI are evaluated favorably, may be forwarded a copy of the solicitation and may be requested to propose a solution to this requirement. That solicitation will contain additional information, terms and conditions, response requirements, and evaluation criteria. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note that this information is being requested for information and planning purposes. The Government does not intend to award a contract based on the information provided or otherwise pay for the information requested. Dependent upon the results of this market survey, The United States Mint may subsequently issue a solicitation to acquire the appropriate services. If a solicitation is issued, it is anticipated that compensation for services provided would be solely performance incentive based. Information sent in response to this request shall be emailed to jacob.oberlin@bpd.treas.gov. If you would like to receive any future notices related to this Request for Information, please sign up on the General Services Administration's (GSA) Electronic Posting System (EPS) internet web site at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. An electronic notice will be sent to you when additional documents become available for downloading.
