The work is scheduled to begin in Spring 2010 depending on weather conditions and the elevation of the sites. The solicitation is scheduled to be available in Mid December with a due date for proposals in mid January. Because the sites will soon not be available for viewing due to snow and freezing temperatures in the areas contractors are encouraged to view the area to evaluate the conditions, maps are included in this solicitation. The work is segmented into three areas known as Panda Bear (4107 acres), Siskiyou Plant (2421 acres) and Little China (647 acres) and award will be by line item with the potential for multiple awards. Work will include planting government furnished container and bare-root stock tree seedlings within a 12-inch scalp. The contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation and supplies and incidentals to perform all work except those designated in the contract as Government-furnished. Because work will occur in areas of standing dead trees some items will require contractor to assign a full time Safety Officer for the operations. Attached are maps of the proposed planting areas. No prebid tour is scheduled however the contractor can contact the following technical personnel for information on accessibility. Todd Drake 530-493-1740 or Carol Sharp at 530-493-1734. The Contractor will be required to wash all vehicles, trailers, and equipment before entering the District and before going to the planting sites to remove dirt and mud (especially from the undercarriage) to prevent the spread of Port Orford-cedar root disease, sudden oak death or noxious weeds.
