- Description
- Given the critical nature of certain features in new currency and the tolerances on the equipment to produce them, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is seeking information and sources available for a laboratory sheet inspection platform. These inspections will take place in the BEP facility in Washington, DC. The Laboratory Sheet Inspection System shall consist of a sheet feeder, vacuum table transport and delivery. The following are the envisioned system: Feeder • Capable of feeding sheets of currency from a minimum sheet size of 300 mm by 300 mm up to maximum sheet size of 820 mm x 820 mm • Hold up to 1000 sheets • Ability to feed 99.99% of sheets without feeding a double sheet • Ability to feed sheets up to a rate of 10,000 sheets per hour • Ability to feed sheets in a single mode or continuous, providing a distance between sheets Vacuum Table • Transport sheets flat, within +/- 0.1 mm elevation for secondary inspection • Effective inspection area of at least 2600 mm long x 850 mm wide • Ability to mount inspection system(s) above the vacuum transport • Ability for BEP to mount an encoder onto the belt drive • Variable speed control, capable of being synchronized with the feeder • Transport shall be free of magnetic materials • Table shall use a continuous belt, translucent desired • Independent vacuum generation and control of the transport shall be provided Delivery • Capable of stacking sheets after transport • Ability to be synchronized with the transport speed, up to 10,000 sheets per hour • Capable of holding up to 1000 sheets after processing Controls and Interfaces • All components shall be controlled via commercially available PLCs • All components shall enable the BEP to interface with independent sensors and systems that may be tested on the transport • Individual components shall be capable of being controlled via a single PLC or PC source Information on individual components as well as the entire system are welcome.
