- Description
- The U. S. Army Research Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) is seeking technical information on an Automated Test Stand for use with the Armys Parachutist Oxygen Mask (POM). The POM was purchased from Carleton Technologies, Orchard Park, NY, in Oct 09 as a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) item (Carleton Part Numbers: B47300-1, B47300-2, B47300-3 and B47300-4). The POM provides the Military Free Fall (MFF) parachutist a more dependable method of receiving supplemental oxygen at altitudes of up to 35,000-ft Mean Sea Level during the conduct of High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) and High Altitude High Opening (HAHO) MFF operations. The POM is a component of the MFF parachutist oxygen system, which includes the Twin 50 and Twin 53 bailout bottle systems and 6-man portable oxygen console. The Test Stand shall be a self-contained, compact system enabling User units to perform periodic verification testing of the POM regulator, exhalation and anti-suffocation valves and associated parachutist oxygen life support equipment. It shall be simple to use, and require a minimum of operator interaction or training. The Test Stand shall meet the following performance requirements: 1.Must be capable of, at a minimum, measuring the following critical performance characteristics of the mask/regulator: a.Air dilution at maximum and minimum operational altitudes b.Flow vs suction at all operational flow conditions c.Exhalation valve resistance at all flows d.Anti-suffocation valve performance e.Verification of 100% oxygen supply at console supply pressures 2.Must be liftable by no more than two persons in accordance with MIL-STD 1472f. 3.Must require only facility inputs of electricity (115/220 VAC) and a source of clean compressed air or oxygen. RDECOM anticipates purchase of 15 to 20 Test Stands. At this time, RDECOM is seeking technical information for a test stand for the POM that meets the Army's requirements, or may meet requirements with modifications to existing systems. This market survey is for informational purposes only; this is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). All interested firms, regardless of size, are encouraged to respond to this request for information. Proprietary information will not be disclosed outside the US Government. Responses may be sent via e-mail to nina.shopalovich@us..army.mil, or by regular mail to US Army RDECOM, SFAE-SDR-CIE (ATTN: Nina Shopalovich), Kansas Street, Natick, MA 01760, Telephone (508) 233-5293, Fax (508) 233-6350.
