- RFI FOR AIRCREW SUNGLASSES AND FLIGHT DECK GOGGLES. Naval Air Systems Command, Aircrew Systems (NAVAIR-PMA202) of Patuxent River, MD seeks information on commercially available sunglasses for Naval and Marine Corps Aviators and Aircrew and protective goggles for Flight Deck Personnel. These items may be considered as possible replacements, alternatives or optional items for the current US Navy and Marine Corps standard issue equipment. The primary function of the sunglasses is to provide glare and debris protection for aircrew both during flight and ground operations. The primary function of the goggles is to provide eye protection during flight deck operations. Requirements for the sunglasses are: 1) meet ANSI Z 87.1 standards, 2) no polarization, 3)minimum 2mm polycarbonate, 4) compatibility with flight helmet ear cups to minimize degradation of hearing protection, 5) minimal hot spots when used in conjunction with flight helmets, 6) no transition lenses, 7) provide protection from wind and sand, 8) be of optical specification quality, 9) anti abrasion, anti reflection, 10) prescription compatible, 11) fit face form angle, 12) resistant to environmental containments, 13) frame size adaptability, 14) normal color coating,15) meet Mil-Spec ballistic protection standards, 16) anti fog capability, 17) a hard carrying case. Requirements for the flight deck goggles are:1) meet ANSI Z 87.1 standards, 2) no polarization, 3) minimum 2mm polycarbonate, 4) compatibility with flight deck helmet ear cups to minimize degradation of hearing protection, 5) minimal hot spots when used in conjunction with flight deck helmets, 6) meet Mil-Spec ballistic protection standards, provide protection from wind, 7) jet blast and FOD, 8) be of optical specification quality, 9) anti abrasion, 10) anti reflection, 11) prescription compatible, 12) fit face form angle,13) resistant to environmental containments,14) frame size adaptability, 15) normal color coating, 16)anti fog, provide maximum field of view and a hard carrying case. Desired but not required are: transition lenses. Specification sheets, drawings and photographs are requested from all interested sources at no cost to the Government. Product information shall be submitted at no expense to the Government and will not be returned. Proprietary data MUST be marked on a page-by-page basis, and will be kept confidential and protected in accordance with the Uniform Trades Secret Act. Interested sources shall state whether their product is available commercially, made domestically of domestic textiles (must be Berry compliant – manufacturers must list the origin and place of manufacturing operations of all components). The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition are 339920 - sporting goods, 315999 – general, 339115- ophthalmic goods manufacturing. There is no current deadline for responses; this is an open ended RFI. All correspondence shall reference the synopsis number N0001909P7ZD127 on the mailing container and all enclosed documents. Interested companies should indicate whether or not they are a small, small disadvantaged, 8(a), or large business. Respondents must clarify if their firm can provide commercial or non-developmental items that could be modified, or the technology and expertise for development, to meet the Government's needs.
