Description
Sole Source Justification VELOCITY LASER DIODE SYSTEM: The solicitation number is FA8601-10-T-0049. THE CLOSING DATE IS 2 NOV 2009 5:00 PM. The NAICS Code is 334413. The size standard is 500 employees. The government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(iii). The proposed source is New Focus, INC, San Jose, CAlifornia. The purchase is for one (1) Laser Diode with a wavelength range of 10m watts. The laser diode system is needed to expand the existing laser diode wavelength range. It must be able to integrate into the existing diode system. New Focus, INC is the only known manufacturer of this unique system which meets the specifications of the government's requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Mr. Howard Marks, ASC/AQ, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, 45433, has been appointed as Ombudsman to hear concerns from offerors, or potential offerors, during the proposal development. The purpose of the Ombudsman is to communicate contractor concerns, issues, disagreements, and recommendations to the appropriate government personnel. Existence of the Ombudsman does not diminish the authority of the program director or the contracting officer. Accordingly, the Ombudsman does not participate in the preparation of solicitations, the evaluation of proposals or the source selection process and, therefore, for routine matters on individual solicitations, please contact the buyer at the telephone number listed herein.
