Description
FBO REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) – Insignia Buy. This is not a request for quotes (RFQ). Applicable NAICS Codes: 313222 – Schiffli Machine Embroidery; 313221 – Narrow Fabric Mills; 332116 – Metal Stamping and 314999 – All Other Misc. Textile Prod Background: The Coast Guard (CG) is a military, multi-mission maritime service within the Department of Homeland Security and one of the five armed forces. Its core missions are to protect the public, the environment and U.S. economic and security interests in maritime regions. The HQ CG Uniform Program Office has a requirement for the acquisition of military insignia under a new contract that should be in place by early 2010. Requirements: There are approximately 660 items that consist of metal and embroidery type military insignia for CG uniforms. The insignia cover the full range of manufactured items including schiffli machinery, multi-head machinery and hand embroidery. These insignia are manufactured to the applicable CG and MIL specifications. Request for Information (RFI): The current market research shows that there is a small niche of manufacturers that produce military insignia to MIL-STD specifications. The current research shows that the military insignia manufacturers are small businesses with no socio-economic certifications for 8(a), HubZone or Service Disabled Business. This RFI requests that insignia manufacturers that are technically capable of producing insignia to military specifications identify themselves if they are certified as 8(a), HubZone or Service Disabled Businesses. If you have one or more of these socio-economic certifications, submit your name, phone number and DUNS# as shown below. A decision will then be made on the level of small business set aside for the insignia purchase based on the responses to this RFI. Thank you. Response Date: 5pm EST Thursday, 11/5/2009. Please submit responses electronically to: jim.dawson@uscg.mil
