RECOVERYTAS::14 1041::TAS RECOVERY OLYM PMIS# 005375This Contract will be subject to the reporting requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The purpose of this Pre-Solicitation Notice is to notify interested parties in the Washington state area of this upcoming Solicitation. The National Park Service is not requesting proposals at this time. Title: Federal Levee Extension, Archeology ServicesLocation: Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Reservation, City of Port Angeles, WANAICS Code: 541720Estimated Range: $100K - $150KContract type: Firm-Fixed Price Contract subject to the Service Contract Act.Solicitation Procedure: Best Value - all solicitation doucments will be made available to interested parties on or about 5 November 2009. Description:The Federal Levee Extension Project archeological survey will be completed in accordance with the Elwha River Ecosystem Restoration Programmatic Agreement, the Elwha River Ecosystem Restoration Archeological Treatment and Monitoring Plan and will meet the requirements of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Identification. Archeological investigations associated with the proposal to raise and extend the Federal Levee will include a pre-fieldwork literature and file review; pedestrian archeological survey; and subsurface archeological survey using 250-600 screened shovel pits, 3-5 1 x 1 meter excavation units, and 5-10 backhoe trenches to verify the presence or absence of archeological materials. Archeological sites and isolated artifacts will be recorded to professional standards using GPS/GIS technology when possible. Analysis of collected data will be completed to support preparation of a detailed technical report. A draft technical report will be submitted to Olympic National Park who will distribute copies to the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and Washington State Historic Preservation Office for review. Copies of the final report and all materials generated from the project will be submitted to Olympic National Park for curation and distribution to the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and the Washington State Historic Preservation Office as appropriate.
