- This is a Request for Information for Innovations project Patient Care Quality Improvement through Clinical Decisions Support for Providers. The scope of this project is to perform an analysis of the existing ATHENA-Clinical Decision Support (CDS) applications which will determine:a)the changes necessary to standardize the interfaces with Vista b)the changes necessary to standardize the ATHENA-CDS GUI c)the changes necessary to standardize and enhance overall system architecture d)the enhancements necessary to meet the VA Class I certification requirements Based upon the results of the analysis, the contractor shall be responsible for the design and implementation of enhancements to the ATHENA-Hypertension (HTN) Class III application, to prepare the system to meet VA Class I software standards. The contractor shall also make improvements to the system as described in detail below: a)replace the existing CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture), interface of the client code to the server code, with Java-based replacement, b)replace the existing Chronus (Stanford's custom software for temporal queries) database interface with JDBC (Java Database Connectivity), c)implement a Java-based multi-threaded desktop component which responds to events in CPRS, d)develop a web-based GUI (Graphical User Interface) for displaying treatment recommendations, e)implement algorithms to extract and transform patient data from VistA, f)implement algorithms to extract and transform patient data from the VA's regional data center. This RFI is issued for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation nor does it restrict the Government as to the ultimate acquisition approach. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Any contract that might be awarded based on information received or derived from this RFI will be the outcome of the competitive process. Responses are requested no later than close of business 23 October 2009.
