- The auxiliary spillway control structure is a reinforced concrete gravity structure about 150 feet high. The control structure construction will be the first of multiple construction contracts and includes the foundation excavation and preparation, Submerged Tainter Gate (STG) fabrication and installation and mass concrete placement. The control structure construction contract is structured for a general engineering contractor specializing in mass concrete placement operations. The control structure is founded on bedrock and comprised of two 89 feet - 9 inches wide independent flow-through monoliths flanked by three non-flow-through monoliths also keyed into the adjacent rock. Each flow-through monolith houses three STGs, each 23 feet wide by 34 feet - 0 inches high. Each of the six STGs will have its own dedicated steel bulkhead gate and hoist assembly. The scope of the control structure work element includes the excavation to final grade, preparation of the foundation, drainage and seepage controls, mass concrete placement, procurement, delivery and installation of the STGs and bulkhead gates, internal and external access, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation controls. It is anticipated that the first step of the Two-Step Sealed Bidding (aka Invitation for Bids) will be issued on or about November 2, 2009, for downloading at the Government's website at FedBizOpps www.fbo.gov. No paper copies will be issued. The specific date and time will be identified in the solicitation. OFFERORS ARE ADVISED THAT THIS PROJECT MAY BE DELAYED, CANCELED OR REVISED AT ANY TIME DURING THE SOLICITATION, SELECTION, EVALUATION, NEGOTIATION AND/OR FINAL AWARD PROCESS. Ordering Solicitation: Plans and specifications will NOT be provided in hard paper copy. The solicitation and all amendments for this acquisition will be posted on a secure Government website known as FedBizOpps (www.fbo.gov) once the IFB is issued. Viewing/downloading documents from FedBizOpps will require prior registration in Central Contractor Registration (www.ccr.gov ). If you are a first-time FedBizOpps user, you will also be required to register in FedBizOpps before accessing the IFB documents. To register, click on the Register Now button in the Vendors Block and follow the instructions. The following information will be required: Central Contractor Registration (CCR) Marketing Partner Identification Number (MPIN); DUNS Number or Cage Code; Telephone Number; and E-mail Address. Once registered with FedBizOpps, interested parties will then be able to log in and access the IFB documents. Important Notes: Solicitation documents can be accessed ONLY via FedBizOpps. Please note that ALL contractors who want to register with FedBizOpps must be CCR registered, and have a MPIN, DUNS number or Cage code. When viewing the Synopsis/Pre-solicitation Notice, you will click on the ADD ME TO INTERESTED VENDORS to enter your information. This function does not, however, allow you to identify yourself as a Prime or Sub.
