Description
Sole Source Justification UHV PUMP SYSTEM: The solicitation number is FA8601-10-T-0034. The NAICS Code is 333912. The size standard is 500 employees. The government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(iii). The proposed source is Varian Vacuum Techonologies, Lexington, MA. The purchase is for an Ultrahigh Vacuum Pumping System for use in vacuum ultra-violet detection. This pump system, is especially designed and constructed to produce an ultrahigh vacuum atmosphere in a cathodoluminescent experiement chamber. It is manufactured by Varian Vacuum Technologies. Varian is the only known manufacturer of this unique system which meets the rigid ultrahigh vacuum specifications of the governments requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, any quotation received within two (2) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Mr. Howard Marks, ASC/AQ, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, 45433, has been appointed as Ombudsman to hear concerns from offerors, or potential offerors, during the proposal development. The purpose of the Ombudsman is to communicate contractor concerns, issues, disagreements, and recommendations to the appropriate government personnel. Existence of the Ombudsman does not diminish the authority of the program director or the contracting officer. Accordingly, the Ombudsman does not participate in the preparation of solicitations, the evaluation of proposals or the source selection process and, therefore, for routine matters on individual solicitations, please contact the buyer at the telephone number listed herein.
