Description

The Joint Program Office for Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (JPO MRAP) vehicles is currently conducting an engineering study with the six (6) Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) of MRAP variants to support design considerations for the platform suspension system upgrade. The variants include the MaxxPro Dash, RG-31, MaxxPro Plus, Super MaxxPro, Buffalo, and Caiman. The MRAP program office requires the technical evaluation support of subject matter experts in heavy military combat vehicle suspension systems and mobility. The MRAP program requires this evaluation to be conducted on a test course that replicates the Afghanistan profile. This is required as the MRAP's mission will be primarily OEF (Afghanistan) and the suspension system must be measured and assessed across this terrain to understand any deficiencies that may exist prior to fielding the vehicles on this mission profile. The JPO MRAP will provide up to five (5) vehicles with baseline suspension systems and prototype suspension systems to the test facility. Additional vehicles may be added, with quantities and time of delivery determined prior to exercise of options. The test facility shall be tasked to evaluate the current suspension systems for deficiencies in mobility, and provide input to engineering studies of alternate suspension systems. The facility must have current knowledge and expertise in commercial and military suspension systems on vehicles in the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) range of 39-60K.
