Description
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: HOUSE WIRELESS LAN The United States House of Representatives (House) Chief Administrative Officer, House Information Resources (HIR) - Network Unified Communications group (NUC), is seeking information subject to provisioning a Campus Wireless LAN & Wired Guest Enterprise Solution for the Rayburn, Cannon, Longworth, and Ford House Office Buildings and House portions of the U.S. Capitol (internal areas only). The NUC requests information about the overall capabilities of vendors to provide product / equipment enterprise solutions to facilitate a phased deployment of WLAN 802.11n mixed mode and wired guest access for various locations on the House Campus. The NUC would like to review creative and cost effective solutions to provision network management tools, hardware/software, training, pricing, and on-going a la carte maintenance of WLAN 802.11n mixed mode products and wired guest access. The NUC is particularly interested in prior WLAN & wired guest enterprise solution experiences with government agencies as well as technical solutions and pricing schemes. Firm quotes or proposals are NOT requested at this time. The NUC intends to develop a Wireless LAN 802.11n mixed mode & Wired Guest Enterprise Solution initially to designated hotspots throughout the House Campus and thereafter organically growing the solution to other portions of the campus as accessible. The ‘hotspot' areas include but are not limited to: House cafeterias, Committee hearing rooms and ante rooms, conference rooms, self-scheduled meeting rooms, banquet rooms, press areas and other common or mass meeting areas as designated. The technical products/information sought consists of: • GWAC/GSA Contract Vehicle • Network Management Tools and Capabilities • Network Management Analysis/Analyzers • Security solutions and capabilities • WLAN Controller & Access Point (AP) details, specifications and capabilities • On-going a la carte maintenance/upgrades, system evaluation solutions, and multi-year pricing schemes The NUC wishes to stress that the intent of this RFI is to obtain information only. It is not a solicitation or request for offers. Cabling/installation, electrical and other utility provisioning are outside the scope of this RFI and need not be a part of any response. The NUC is seeking scalable pricing solutions that seek to diminish expensive and cost restricting add-on licensing fees and specifically explain and identify the evolutionary path of Draft 2.0 802.11n products that will evolve into available 802.11n products and how that product and equipment evolution may impact product costs and availability over the next three years. Interested parties may submit written responses in Microsoft Word and/or Adobe Acrobat.pdf format to be delivered as an attachment to an e-mail only. Responses are requested by Friday, November 20, 2009. The response should include the company name, address, telephone number, point of contact, e-mail address, and company Web site, if available. The respondents are specifically requested not to submit marketing materials, slicks, promotional or advertising products. It is the intent of the NUC to acquire specific and deliberate responses to the information sought. E-mail your responses to Jim.Caskey@mail.house.gov and reference this RFI number and title. This RFI is for information and planning purposes only. It does not constitute a solicitation and is not to be construed as a commitment by the House. The House is not responsible for incomplete or inaccurate republishing of this document by third parties. E-mail addresses are provided for responses to this RFI only and are expressly not intended to be added to general solicitation or "subscription" lists, i.e., consider this an "opt-out" notice.
