Description
The KPA is the superior method for analysis of trace uranium in water, nuclear, research, environmental, industrial, and bioassay applications. It allows fast, easy and economical analysis for trace Uranium and also Lanthanides (Dy, Eu, Sm, Tb, and Tm) in solutions. It produces high specificity, precise (1-5%), and reliable results. This sensitive time resolved phosphorescence technology provides ultra low detection limits down to 0.01 μg/L for uranium and an analytical range greater than 1,000,000. The ASTM method for uranium in water by pulsed-laser Phosphorimetry (D5174, Vol.11.02, 1994) is based on the KPA instrument. The U.S. EPA has adopted that ASTM method in the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (40 CFR Part 141.sec. 141.25) The KPA meets the U.S. Regulated Drinking Water Contaminants Final Rule (EPA 40 CFR Parts 141 and 143, Dec. 7, 2000) for analyzing by mass. The highly specific KPA has unique differences from other methods of analysis for uranium. They are simply stated as analysis by “oxidation state” and analysis at atmospheric pressure by phosphorescence. The KPA detects the emission from U(VI) present in 1 ml of solution as uranyl ion UO22+. Also, analysis of one sample typically requires only 1 minute to complete, after which all memory of the previous sample is removed from the system. Analytical results are stored in the computer database.
